Internet Explorer 8 for early 2009

Date: Tue, 25 Nov 2008 4:01:05 +0000

A couple of years over 90% of Internet browser using the Microsoft browser, Internet Explorer. That "shocking" number of users has been affected by its nearest competitor, Firefox , in what many have called "War of the Browsers." With the advent of Firefox 3 in June and in September Chrome, Internet Explorer use dropped to 75%. Undoubtedly

Microsoft lost much ground he had occupied for a long time, but this does not end there. Dean Hachamovitch, general manager of Internet Explorer, the browser blog announced the release date for the new version of Internet Explorer would be between January and March 2009 . This guarantees another battle between browsers, Microsoft looking to regain his ground and the other trying to beat Internet Explorer, each one individually.

PDFGeni: search PDF files

Date: Mon, 24 Nov 2008 20:19:31 +0000

PDFGeni is a powerful search engine dedicated to listing in results only PDF files. It's that simple, fast and effective just by typing a name, the results appear almost instantly. Although PDFGeni indicates that especially works for find books, e-books , etc., with a few key words I could see that its search capability is impressive, reaching list some datasheets (data sheets for electronic components) that was.

Certainly I would say that Google is PDFGeni PDFs.

Filterbit: Scan files with multiple antivirus onlines

Date: Mon, 24 Nov 2008 7:24:16 +0000

is Filterbit similar service to VirSCAN , which lets you scan files online looking for Trojans or any other type of malware, using multiple antirivus in the analysis. The use of this service is really simple, we only specify the file (which must be no larger than 20 MB), so the system will be analyze and display the results immediately , depending on size . The virus that uses Filterbit for analysis are: AVG, ClamAV, ESET, eTrust, McAfee, Kaspersky, Norman and VrusBuster .

To test this tool I uploaded a RAR containing an infected file, which NOD32 (my favorite antivirus and I use) found to be extracted. The result of the analysis, to my surprise, is as follows:

Only 3 of 8 antivirus engine that uses the Filterbit detected the infected file, within which (unfortunately) not NOD32 is the . Finally, Filterbit is a service that we must take into account (as this list of online antivirus 10 ) when our trusted antivirus alerts display or unknown files, this so we eighth point of view.
